Customer Interview No. 1

1. There are many people in Gainesville that use scooters as a form of transportations. Many students cannot afford to purchase a scooter, because of many other expenses that they have along with the expense of attending the University of Florida. There is all ready a rental service for cars on campus in case students need a form of transportation. I believe there is an opportunity for a scooter rental service. This would be cheaper than a car, and it would allow students to have the same mobility as a car. This form of transportation would help students be able to move around the Gainesville area without having to spend a great deal of money on transportation or on gasoline, since scooters have very good mpg.

2. I believe that students have the unmet need for using scooters around the Gainesville area. If students were able to rent scooters, they would be able to move around campus without having to wait for the bus system, or uber to get to where they are. This would help students be on time, and be able to plan their schedules without the need to have to wait on a form of transportation to get to where they are going. Also, this is a very inexpensive form of transportation, since filling up a scooter is very cheap, and scooters usually do not break down.

3. My list of questions:

Do you ever find yourself in need of transportation?

Would you use a scooter rental service? (If respondent says no)Why not?

Would you use this service even if you had to sign a liability waiver forcing you to wear a helmet?

4. Interviews:
Adam

Harrison

Zack

Nick

Chris

5. Overall, I learned that this would be a good idea based on the student population. I still believe that students would use this service. Students want to be able to move around freely, and this inexpensive service would allow them to do so. Also, I learned that students do care about their health, and that wearing a helmet would not be a deal breaker. I thought that people would not want to wear helmets, since most people that use scooters on campus do not use them.

6. Interviewing others can be awkward and intimidating. It all depends on how you approach the interview beforehand. Also, if people do not answer your questions in the way you expected them to, then you can feel negative about it. This could affect future interviews. It is good to be as detailed as possible in your questions, but you also need to be to the point. Even though the interviews were a bit uncomfortable at first, they got easier as I interviewed more people.

  1. Hey luis,
Good job on this assignment. I like the idea of a scooter rental service. I myself have a scooter and it is a great way to get around campus. The topic is good but I believe you could have made better questions to engage the person your interviewing more. Overall good job and if your free take a look at my blog. http://peterphamuf.blogspot.com/
